Before you invest in a pair of designer sunglasses, you want to make sure you select a pair that are the most flattering for your complexion. In the world of fashion and beauty, season names are used to categorize different skin tones.
Winter and summer people, similar to their meteorological counterparts, have the most dramatic contrast in their coloring. For example, if you're a winter, you have blue or pink undertones in your skin. (The inside of your wrist is the best indicator of skin tone.) Skin color can be pale white, yellowish olive or dark. Winter people have brown hair and dark eyes. Summer people also have blue or pink undertones but their skin color is pale and pink. Hair color is blond or light brown and eyes are pale. Autumn and spring people don't have as much contrast in their coloring. Autumns have golden undertones in their skin. Their hair is red or brunette and their eyes are golden. Spring complexions also have golden undertones, but their skin color is more creamy or peach. Spring people have dirty blond or strawberry red hair and blue or green eyes. If you have freckles, you're probably a spring.
Once you've determined which season best described your coloring, finding the right sunglasses will be a snap. If you're a winter, you need a pair of sunglasses that are as dramatic as your natural looks. Opt for pure, strong colored frames such as white, black, red, navy blue, or even bright pink. If you need to match that new, flirty sundress, you can wear lighter colors, but stay away from pastels and look for frames with icy tones instead. If you're a summer, the opposite is true. Frames that are pastel, lavender, plum or rose-brown will look best. If you're an autumn, choose frames that are caramel, beige, orange, gold or dark brown. Springs can wear frames in similar colors, like caramel, peach, golden-yellow and golden-brown.
